We recently attended the opening of Medici by Trove at Dubai Mall, and it was an experience that lingered well beyond the final course. Set within Fashion Avenue, the new destination introduces a refined Italian dining concept where noble tradition meets modern expression, and where desserts quite literally take flight.
The latest concept by Gastronaut Hospitality, Medici by Trove reflects a philosophy rooted in craftsmanship, storytelling, and emotional connection. Founded by Ahmet Oytun Çakır, the group continues to shape Dubai’s dining scene with concepts that feel deeply personal and thoughtfully curated.
From the moment we stepped inside, the space set the tone. White linen tables, soft pink pastel archways, and sculptural architectural details create an atmosphere that feels elegant yet welcoming. The interiors evolve effortlessly throughout the day, from calm, light-filled mornings to romantic, softly lit evenings. This makes it a place designed to be lived in, not rushed through.
As part of the opening experience, we sampled a selection of dishes and drinks that showcased the kitchen’s refined yet expressive approach. Under the direction of Executive Chef Doğukan Düğüncü, Medici’s menu blends classic Italian foundations with contemporary techniques and subtle global influences. Each plate felt honest and flavour-driven, balancing familiarity with quiet creativity.
We also took part in a beautifully curated flower-arranging session, a thoughtful touch that echoed the brand’s belief in artistry beyond the plate. It was moments like these that reinforced Medici’s intention to create not just a restaurant, but a lifestyle experience.
Dessert, however, is where Medici truly takes centre stage. With more than 30 handcrafted dessert selections, the menu celebrates Italian indulgence through a modern lens. The highlight is undoubtedly the signature Flying Dessert — a theatrical presentation that transforms dessert into a moment of art, movement, and delight. It’s playful, unexpected, and utterly memorable.
