During my drive experience, the G318 quickly demonstrated that it is far more than its bold, military-inspired appearance suggests.
While its upright stance and rugged proportions hint at serious off-road credentials, it also delivers the refinement and comfort expected from a modern premium SUV. Designed around DEEPAL’s Super Hybrid technology, it brings together electric driving characteristics with the reassurance of extended range, making it particularly well suited to the varied driving conditions of the UAE.
Exterior
The G318 comes with a squared-off silhouette, muscular wheel arches and clean geometric lines that create a purposeful design and looks equally at home in Dubai’s urban landscape or crossing desert tracks. The front lighting signature gives the vehicle a distinctive identity, while the elevated stance and practical proportions reinforce its adventurous personality. The G318 has genuine road presence without appearing cumbersome. The rear-mounted spare wheel and robust detailing complete the look, reminding you that this is an SUV designed for exploration rather than simply projecting an adventurous image.
Interior
Step inside and the rugged exterior gives way to a surprisingly sophisticated cabin. The dashboard is clean, uncluttered and centred around a large infotainment display that immediately creates a modern atmosphere. Soft-touch materials, subtle ambient lighting and excellent noise insulation contribute to an environment that feels calm and premium. Visibility is excellent thanks to the commanding seating position, while the spacious cabin offers generous room for both front and rear passengers. What impressed me most was that the cabin appears thoughtfully positioned, allowing the driver to focus on the journey while still enjoying the latest technology.
Technology
The intelligent cockpit combines connected navigation, bilingual voice recognition and remote vehicle functions within an intuitive interface that quickly becomes second nature. A premium sound system and full-cabin acoustic insulation further elevates the driving experience. Equally impressive is the technology beneath the bodywork. The ET Intelligent All-Terrain System continuously adapts suspension, drivetrain and differential settings according to changing terrain, making off-road driving far less intimidating for drivers with limited experience. Safety has also received considerable attention. Eight airbags, a 540-degree panoramic camera, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane change assistance and a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems provide reassurance whether navigating city streets or venturing beyond the tarmac.
Performance
On the road, the G318 feels remarkably composed. The dual-motor four-wheel-drive system delivers effortless acceleration, while the Super Hybrid powertrain provides the smooth, near-silent response typically associated with electric vehicles.
The transition between electric and range-extending power is seamless, allowing the driver to simply enjoy the journey. With 430 PS and 575 Nm of torque available, performance is confident and responsive, while the 0-100 km/h sprint of just 5.9 seconds gives the G318 an unexpectedly lively character for a vehicle of this size. Yet what stood out most during my drive was not outright speed but refinement.
For UAE motorists, the combination of electric driving, long-distance capability and genuine off-road potential makes sense. With a combined driving range of up to 848 kilometres (WLTC), range anxiety becomes far less of a concern while enjoying many of the benefits of electrified mobility.

The DEEPAL G318 enters the market with a clear identity. Rather than trying to imitate established adventure SUVs, it introduces a fresh perspective that combines electrified performance, intelligent technology and genuine all-terrain capability in one distinctive package for buyers looking to embrace electrified mobility without sacrificing versatility.
