Legendary Off-Road Champion: Jeep Wrangler Sahara

Shereen Shabnam

The most common selling point for the Jeep Wrangler has always been the legendary off-road capabilities. In the new Sahara, what we loved more was the contemporary Jeep styling that stays true to the original and the advanced technology features in terms of safety and connectivity.

The new generation of the iconic Jeep Sahara offers excellent levels of comfort and superior driving dynamics. I have driven the Jeep Wrangler a few times in different countries and terrains, and it is indeed a one-of-a-kind vehicle that is perfect for both young and seasoned drivers.

The Jeep Wrangler we took from the Dubai Festival City showroom comes with the usual traditional Jeep design cues, from the round headlights to the seven-slot grille and still looks more advanced and contemporary. It is a one-of-a-kind vehicle that takes you from the roughest terrain to city streets with ease.

Even with a modern design, it stays true to the original Jeep DNA with open-air freedom and advanced technology features in terms of safety and connectivity.

INTERIOR

The interior of the Jeep Wrangler combines authentic styling, versatility, and functionality, in addition to a more stylish and comfortable cabin, thanks to the use of high-quality materials and finishes.  It is modern with leather-trimmed seats, leather-wrapped dashboard with contrast stitching and easy to use Driver Information Digital Cluster Display.

Adding to the convenience is the touchscreen with functional features such as climate and volume control knobs, USB ports and media connectivity ports. It may be a tough looking Jeep suitable for the rough terrain, but we found the new Sahara comfortable inside with the adjustable bolster and lumbar support plus the lengthened arm rests.

EXTERIOR

The sculptural design aesthetic of the Jeep Sahara is immediately recognizable, and the larger windows give great outward visibility, useful especially when on extreme trails. The top of the keystone-shaped grille has been gently swept back for improved aerodynamics.

The LED headlights and fog lights feature crisp white lighting that adds to the Wrangler’s distinctive look. Different windshield and top solutions allow customers to choose multiple configuration possibilities.

PERFORMANCE & DRIVE ASSIST

Driver and passenger safety in the Sahara is assured with an array of active and passive safety features such as Blind-Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Path detection, ParkSense rear park assist, ParkView rear backup camera with dynamic grid lines, electronic stability control (ESC),  Antilock Brake System (ABS), Brake Assist, four standard airbags, body-on-frame construction and more.

All Jeep Wrangler grades are Trail rated which means they are superior on Traction, Articulation, Ground Clearance, Manoeuvrability and Water Froding.

The 3.6-liter, V6, eight-speed automatic transmission optimizes the engine output while on the trails and offers smooth, efficient power delivery at highway speeds. The 4×4 system features a full-time mode that automatically switches from 2WD to 4WD when conditions dictate, relying on internal wheel speed and traction control sensors.

VERDICT

Jeep Sahara stands out for its functionality and has the ability to give drivers any adventure they desire with utmost ease. Offering a host of powerful adventure drives, clever storage solutions and DIY kits, one can own a Jeep tailor made to their preferences and meet all driver and passenger needs, suitable for drive adventures as well as comfortable everyday use.
