Elevating travel with sustainability initiatives

Turkish Airlines showcased sustainability initiatives and new destinations at Arabian Travel Market 2022 with a focus on sustainable Aviation fuel that reduces emissions and carbon footprint. The carrierhighlighted the use of sustainable aviation fuel that reduces emissions by 87 percent and is produced from sustainable raw materials and devoid of harmful heavy metals.

As the fastest growing airline flying to the highest number of destinations, how many destinations is Turkish Airlines flying to?

The carrier from its Istanbul hub connects travellers to 329 destinations worldwide (279 international and 50 domestic), making Turkish Airlines the airline that flies to more countries than any other.

What market trends and changes have you noticed in the airline industry?

As an Airline we focus our energy on enhancing the travel experience by

providing a safe environment in ground and in the air as a market leader. While focus on travel health certainly increased, environmentalist concerns are also will be big part of sector’s future.

Tell us about your sustainable fuel initiative?

We are promoting our sustainable aviation fuel at ATM due to the effect the aviation sector has on climate change and we hope to help reduce the carbon footprint of our customers. Sustainable aviation fuel reduces emissions by 87 percent and comes with high energy that helps reduce harmful particles of SOx and NOx emissions due to clean burn. It is produced from sustainable raw materials and devoid of harmful heavy metals.

What are your USPs?

We offer an award-winning lounge, having an art exhibition at the Turkish Airlines Business Class Lounge to liven the spirit of the passengers, a young fleet with great passenger comfort, ease of booking, in-flight services etc. so that travellers get motivated to fly with us and use our hub as a stop over to get to other countries.

What hygiene precautions are being taken by Turkish Airlines this year?

We achieved the Diamond status by APEX (Airline Passenger Experience Association) Health Safety powered by SimpliFlying for numerous criteria such as touch-free check-in process, implementation of social distancing, temperature measuring at entrances, Covid-19 test service at the airport, extra hygiene precautions, in-flight social distancing, hygiene expert cabin crews appointed in flights and hygiene kits offered to passengers.

Are flights within the Turkish Airline’s European network from Istanbul still strong this year?

Our hub gives travellers a seamless connection via an upgraded airport that takes all precautions for safe travel and a diverse shopping and dining experience. We do well as we are not too far from the GCC countries, so people plan for short trips, often over the weekend so the opportunity for local economies to thrive remains. We offer more flight options, greater connectivity and optimizing on Istanbul’s many attractions beautiful palaces, mosques, museums and retail havens.

We are the busiest airline in the Eurocontrol Network and Istanbul Airport is the top airport with 604 daily departures, while another airport in Istanbul, Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, ranked sixth with 345 daily flights.

How is Turkish Airlines staying ahead of other airlines?

We tailor products and services to match consumer preferences and tastes and show our passengers whether it is their travel health, comfort or whether it is the future of our beautiful planet with sustainable practices while leveraging our hub’s strategic location and strong and young fleet.

What is currently popular in Turkey that GCC travellers can look forward to in terms of new routes?

Istanbul is easily reachable from the Middle East but we find more demand now for other touristic cities as well such as Izmir, Bodrum and Antalya. We continue to work on the potential of new international and regional routes and strengthen our network. GCC travellers can look forward to our enhanced brand of luxury, rewarding experiences and a seamless airport experience that offers excellent retail and world class luxury lounge option.
