A Turning Point for Women’s Health: Saudi Arabia Prepares for Its First Menopause Awareness Forum

Shereen Shabnam

After crossing the age of 50, conversations in my circle around women’s health has started evolving rapidly. Hence we are featuring a landmark initiative that is set to take place in Riyadh and it is one that signals both progress and purpose. Medi-Gyn Hormone Health Center has announced plans to host Saudi Arabia’s first dedicated menopause awareness and education event, marking a significant moment for women’s healthcare education in the Kingdom and the wider Gulf region.

Menopause is a universal biological transition, yet it remains one of the most misunderstood and under-discussed phases of a woman’s life, including what I am going through myself. For many women, symptoms such as persistent fatigue, sleep disruption, mood changes, weight fluctuation, and a gradual decline in overall wellbeing are often dismissed as stress, ageing, or lifestyle imbalance. Without access to clear, evidence-based, and culturally sensitive information, countless women navigate this stage silently, normalising discomfort rather than addressing it.

Medi-Gyn’s upcoming Riyadh event seeks to change that narrative. Designed as an educational and awareness-driven platform, the initiative places menopause firmly within the broader context of preventive healthcare, healthy ageing, and quality of life. Rather than framing menopause as a condition to endure, the event promotes understanding, early awareness, and medically sound approaches to symptom management, that is grounded in science, delivered with empathy, and tailored to the realities of women in the region.

At its core, the event aims to break stigma and encourage open dialogue. Expert-led sessions will explore hormonal balance, physical and emotional wellbeing, and the long-term health implications of untreated menopausal symptoms. By creating a trusted and respectful environment for learning, Medi-Gyn seeks to empower women with knowledge that supports informed decision-making and sustained wellness well beyond midlife.

Building on Regional Experience

The Riyadh initiative builds on Medi-Gyn’s extensive experience delivering women’s health education across the GCC. Over recent years, the centre has hosted and supported hormone health and wellness events in cities including Dubai, Muscat, and Jeddah, consistently drawing strong engagement from women seeking clarity, credible guidance, and reassurance during key life transitions.

Previous programmes have addressed hormone imbalance, perimenopause, menopause, metabolic health, stress management, and healthy ageing—always with a focus on accessibility and cultural relevance. These events have created spaces where women feel seen and supported, and where complex medical topics are translated into meaningful, practical insights. The Riyadh event represents a natural expansion of this mission, responding to growing interest within Saudi Arabia for community-based learning and preventive healthcare education.

Aligned with a National Health Vision

Saudi Arabia’s healthcare landscape is undergoing a profound transformation, with increased emphasis on prevention, education, and long-term wellbeing as part of its national health strategy. Women’s wellness and quality-of-life initiatives are receiving greater attention, opening the door for more nuanced and proactive conversations around hormonal health.

The menopause awareness event directly supports these national objectives by shifting the focus from reactive treatment to informed prevention. By encouraging women to recognise early symptoms, understand hormonal changes, and adopt evidence-based lifestyle and medical strategies, the initiative reinforces the importance of proactive healthcare across every stage of life.

An Invitation to Purpose-Driven Partnerships

As part of this milestone initiative, Medi-Gyn is inviting strategic sponsors and partners to take part in shaping a meaningful healthcare conversation. Organisations aligned with women’s wellbeing, education, and community impact have the opportunity to support an event that goes beyond visibility, one that creates lasting social and health value. Participation offers alignment with a credible women’s health platform, meaningful engagement with women and healthcare professionals, and visibility through event-related media coverage.

Looking Ahead

The Riyadh menopause awareness event is expected to attract a diverse audience, including women, healthcare professionals, educators, and wellness stakeholders. Its impact, however, is designed to extend far beyond a single gathering. By fostering informed discussion and practical education, the initiative aims to create ripple effects, encouraging healthier choices, earlier intervention, and greater openness around menopause within families, workplaces, and communities.

Through this landmark event, Medi-Gyn Hormone Health Center continues to reaffirm its commitment to advocacy, education, and compassionate care. In doing so, it is helping to redefine how menopause is understood and supported, placing women’s long-term wellbeing firmly at the centre of the healthcare conversation in the region.
