As we enter Rosselli AX Privilege, a 5-star boutique luxury accommodation in a historic palazzo at the heart of Malta’s baroque capital city, Valletta, history greets us in the form of a 400-year-old fountain that was being admired by a group of locals and guests. A couple of local craftsmen had successfully restored the fountain, which is the centre piece of the palatial residence, making guests experience a bit of living history.
A haven of style, sophistication and serenity in an exquisitely restored heritage building, Rosselli AX Privilege was once the residence of a well-established goldsmith and philanthropist. Built in the first decades of the 1600’s Casa Rosselli-Massa is a clear example of a transitional building, incorporating the classical lines of Renaissance architecture and the more florid early Baroque styles.
Rosselli AX Privilege has 25 luxurious designer suites laden with tranquility and each room is a stylish sanctuary, complete with soft velvets and crisp linens. The rooms exude quiet calm which was welcome after a long flight and helped in reenergizing the mind, body and soul.
There are discreet spots of comfort everywhere in the hotel, whether it is the rooftop terrace with panoramic views, the relaxing lounge area that’s an architectural gem, the chic restaurants or the spa and wellness features in some of the suites.
The hotel is close to the sea, so it is ideal to while away the hours watching ships approaching Valletta Harbour, strolling the Upper Barrakka Gardens or hunting down national treasures in the capital’s museums.
After a busy day exploring the Island, the best place to unwind is in The Rosselli Lounge. Here you can relax in the soft sofas while listening to the soothing sweet tinkle of water from the fountain.
There are also the AX Privilege meeting rooms and facilities that are ideal for corporate meetings or informal business chats.
The 24-hour reception is always ready to assist with information, working hand in hand with the concierge and can provide great tips on where to eat and shop in Valletta.
However, the best place to retreat and eat is the hotel itself. Here you can experience the epitome of luxury and high-class service provided by a dedicated team and the Michelin-awarded kitchen brigade. At street level, Grain Street offers an authentic dining experience with plates to share, and wines served by the glass, a concept that became worthy of the MICHELIN Bib Gourmand accolade.
On the subterranean level, Under Grain transports you to a refined experience. For three consecutive years, Under Grain was awarded a Michelin star and due to high popularity, there is a waiting list to dine here. The curated menu is interesting, and food is of the highest quality.
Rosselli AX Privilege is truly a haven for relaxing and is located strategically close to the best shopping, dining and popular attractions in Malta.
