More intelligent and attentive than ever, the new GLE 450 is more elegant than ever and with a dynamic expression of power. It was a pleasure driving it around Dubai and my favourite feature hands down was the seat massager function, the musical and lighting moods plus a wide range of feel-good programmes.
Exterior
The exterior design not only exudes presence and power, but also sets a new standard for aerodynamics in the SUV segment. The new 4MATIC ensures great agility on the road and superior performance off the beaten track.
The special light-alloy bigger wheels give it a sporty look while the headlamps feature state-of-the-art LED technology as standard. The Chrome elements create stylish highlights. Aerodynamic optimisation measures deliver first-class efficiency values and ensure pleasantly quiet driving acoustics. We loved the panoramic sunroof for the evening drives down Beach Road.
The large wheels come in sizes from 19 to 22 inches, housed in wheel arches with prominent liners. This underlines the GLE’s robust SUV character, as do the pillared roof rails or the optional illuminated running boards. The good aerodynamic properties make a key contribution to low fuel consumption under everyday conditions.
Interior
The interior is even more spacious and comfortable, with a third seat row available on request. We loved the digital displays, open-pore wood trim and the stylish Widescreen Cockpit that instantly stands out. The infotainment system has large screens and a full-colour head-up display.
The new sculptured sport steering wheel accentuates the impressive appearance of the SUV’s interior. There is also the option of navigating with MBUX Augmented Reality and the possibility of individually positioning your desired content items. Upgrades include the interior with sports seats, AMG sports pedals, a sports steering wheel and AMG floor mats.
Technical Specifications/Safety Features
The Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 4MATIC is powered by a six-cylinder engine. Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC and Active Steering Assist now provide even more comfortable support for the driver to keep a safe distance and steer.
The speed is adjusted automatically ahead of bends or junctions. This is complemented by Evasive Steering Assist, a considerably improved Active Lane Keeping Assist and additional functions of the Active Emergency Stop Assist.
