Leading the way for family EV’s

The impressive all-new KONA Electric

By Shereen Shabnam

We had the pleasure to drive for a week the ground-breaking first Electric compact SUV, the KONA Electric which is an uncompromising newcomer that combines bold, roomy SUV with impressive electric driving range. KONA Electric’s distinctive, confident and unique style sets it apart from the crowd.

Exterior

Combining sculpted lines with a stylish edge, the all-new KONA Electric is expressive from every angle. In the front, the sleek closed grille proudly announces its electric powertrain. The characteristic KONA full-LED twin headlights create one-of-a-kind look and so do the exclusive 17″ alloy wheels. Kona comes with a choice of 7 exterior colors and three contrasting roof colors.

Interior

The All-New KONA Electric is a compact SUV that doesn’t compromise on space and delivers excellent interior roominess. It has plenty of room for both passengers and cargo with a trunk capacity of 373L (VDA).  The adjustable power front seats offer an exceptional level of comfort and the interior overall has a modern and refined feel with high quality materials.

The completely reinvented 7″ digital instrument cluster and head-up display helps drivers stay safe by projecting important information like speed, navigation commands, and warnings right into your line of sight.

It also features Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ so you can connect your phone and have your music, phone and app functions up on the main screen. Plus the premium sound system from KRELL delivers stellar sound performance so you can rock it in style.

Safety

The Driver Attention Warning (DAW) raises safety and convenience to an entirely new level by continuously monitoring and analyzing driving patterns through data inputs, such as the steering angle, steering torque and vehicle position in the traffic lane.

The Forward Collision-avoidance Assist operates warns the driver visually and audibly. Then, it controls the brakes according to the collision danger stage, and finally applies maximum braking force to avoid a collision or minimise damage if a collision is unavoidable.

In addition, the Intelligent Speed Limit Warning uses the front camera and information from the navigation system to identify road speed signs and displays the speed limit and no-passing signs in real time. The information is displayed in both the navigation system display and the TFT cluster.

Verdict

The all-new KONA Electric is certainly designed to fit everything you and your busy life can throw at it. With plenty of room for both passengers and cargo, innovative tech and premium sound system, no matter how you choose to explore what drives you, the all-new KONA Electric makes the driving experience easier.
