Bigger, Bolder, Better

Kia Seltos SUV Drive experience in Jordan

Natasha Dury

My first encounter with KIA Seltos was in 2019 when my mum went for a test drive to Abu Dhabi and brought the car home for a week. She gushed about how the car ticked all the boxes and was just the right size for pretty much anything she wanted to do around the city including being able to easily ferry around my golfing bag, PADI diving gear and my horse-riding kit in the boot or transporting me to my taekwondo, music or theatre classes.

Hence when I ventured recently with Kia Middle East and Africa to Jordan to drive the car from Amman to the Dead Sea, I was excited as I had seen images of the car with a design uplift and knew it was going to be a fun drive. The new Kia Seltos is bigger and bolder than its predecessor and comes with a better design and more advanced safety features.

I was briefed by our team on roughly what to expect in terms of the drive schedule, but I certainly did not foresee driving in a busy city with no lane markings on the road and am grateful for the fast response of the Seltos when I needed to manoeuvre quickly to stay safe. Although I may have given my co-drivers a few hair-raising moments which made the ride more fun with screams and giggles along the way but overall, driving the Seltos was fun and comfortable.

Having driven a few cars in the same segment recently, the new Kia Seltos’ unique combination of enhanced performance, bold new design, innovative features and ergonomic safety features are impressive and offers an enhanced driving experience. I particularly liked the panoramic sunroof, that gave an expansive view of our surrounding and allowed us to enjoy the different beautiful landscapes of Jordan. This was a definite plus as even my personal car is a top down model because I feel you need to enjoy the view as much as the drive.

Having grown up in a house where I get to see and sit in newly released cars nearly every fortnight as my mum has been testing cars for over the last twenty years, I have become judgmental over time when it comes to interior comfort and features and thankfully, KIA Seltos offered a spacious cabin with a premium feel and for added comfort, five-degree recline rear seats.

Inside, the new panoramic display presents high-tech imaging and design with a 10.25-inch cluster and 10.25-inch audio, video, and navigation-AVN display. The Dual Auto Climate Control is also invaluable as it seamlessly allows for separate temperature adjustments.

In terms of the drive experience and performance, the new Seltos offered just the right amount of power and innovative features for a memorable driving experience. The exterior is designed to impress with its futuristic and sporty appearance while the front and rear end headlights feature signature star-maps that add a hypermodern look to the Seltos.

The new Kia Seltos has two new exterior hues including Pewter Olive, and Pluton Blue, in addition to the already existing Clear White, Sparkling Silver, Aurora Black Pearl, Vivid Red, Snow White Pearl, and Gravity Gray.

The new Kia Seltos is re-engineered to provide maximum safety through the integration of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist Systems) that includes Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Following Assist (LFA), and Smart Cruise Control (SCC), helping to prevent potential collisions.

With a remarkable leap forward in both design and functionality, the new Seltos is a compelling choice for anyone seeking a versatile SUV with its advanced safety features to its luxurious interior, performance and innovative features. The experience of driving this SUV from Amman to the Dead Sea showcased its agility, responsiveness, and comfort, further solidifying its place as a standout in its segment. Whether you are navigating through busy city lanes or enjoying the scenic landscapes of Jordan, the Kia Seltos ensures that every journey is a memorable one.
