We recently drove the all-new MG RX5 and found the SUV versatile, capable, sporty and fun and available at an affordable price. It offers everything an inquisitive and adventurous motorist demands and is comfortable, safe and efficient.
The central control panel integrates a stylish, hi-tech 14.1” HD vertical touchscreen, that floats up and over the redesigned dashboard. There are plenty of storage spaces and even a wireless mobile phone charger on top-of-the-range models.
The cabin experience was immersive with an intelligent and connected travel experience. The aesthetically designed cabin is padded with soft materials to ensure total comfort for occupants during their journey. The ergonomic gear lever wouldn’t look out of place in a spacecraft, while positioning the central armrest level with the door armrests ensures an ergonomic design more akin to that of a comfy sofa.
The impressive specification levels include the availability of leather seats, a 12.3” virtual cluster panel with a trip computer, a six-way electric driver seat with lumbar support, four-way electric passenger seats and a panoramic sunroof.
For convenience, we also appreciated the presence of the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, GPS navigation, as well as front, side and curtain airbags. Cruise control, push-button ignition, keyless entry, and the rear-view camera. Personally, I loved the 360-degree parking view camera which is useful in some of our malls.
The all-new 2023 MG RX5 introduces a second-generation Net Blue petrol engine, offering more power and greater efficiency. This 1.5T high-pressure direct injection turbocharged unit delivers 171hp and max. torque of 275Nm. The MG RX5 is equipped with an innovative 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission for smoother, more efficient gear changes and optimum reliability.
