Focused on climate change adaptation and mitigation, the Environment Development Forum 2022 – “The Road to Sharm El Sheikh Climate Change COP27” has witnessed fully packed panel discussions and numerous technical workshops covering key challenges and trends after the opening yesterday in Cairo, Egypt.
The second day began with a plenary session on Agriculture & Food Security chaired by H.E. Dr. Ali El Moselhy, Minister, Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, Egypt followed by numerous technical sessions that included discussions on sustainable agriculture practices.
Mr. Amr El Bahey, CEO of Mashreq Bank, Egypt in his opening speech reiterated the National Bank of Egypt’s commitment to identify standard green technology systems available in Egypt through the Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) programme.
He highlighted that the directives of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) is to move towards sustainable finance and support more sustainable economic activities in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The event has gathered thought leaders across different sectors and industries highlighting environment and development issues related to climate change. The themes being discussed include water resources, biodiversity and oceans, agriculture and food security, climate cross cutting issues, solutions & tools, energy and sustainable growth and cities.
