With optimized comfort and safety, Škoda Kamiq perfectly combines the advantages of a sport utility vehicle, such as higher ground clearance and an elevated seat position with the agility of a compact car and offers value for money. It has a distinctive emotive design, state-of-the-art drive assist and infotainment systems, is spacious and has a host of practical features.
INTERIOR
The interior of the Kamiq has a sensible layout, with a modern and minimalist feel complete with a programmable virtual cockpit. The touchscreen is partially integrated into the dash and it comes with a digital instrument cluster and a wireless phone charger. There is a dual zone climate control, eight speaker stereo and a push button start. An LED ambient cabin lighting, common in the most premium SUV’s is a high-end touch. Other notable practical features include the multi-function leather SPORT steering wheel and the raised seat position. We also love the umbrella in the driver’s door.
EXTERIOR
The Kamiq has the same moustache-like grille typical of the Skoda family complete with the bulging bonnet but also has crisp edges running down the side. We like the overall design of the SUV, the sunroof, roof rails plus the new headlight and running light design. The headlights are down low and the running lights sit above them in line with the bonnet edge. The dynamic front and rear indicators light up in sequence in a sweeping motion from the inside to the outside when activated. The ŠKODA KAMIQ comes with a choice of several wheels ranging from 16 to 18 inches.
DRIVE EXPERIENCE
The ŠKODA KAMIQ comes with a choice of five different engines offering power outputs that range from 66 kW (90 PS) to 110 kW (150 PS). We found that the efficient and low-emission engine was great for running errands plus a chassis with an increased ground clearance made the car agile as we got around corners with ease. The Skoda Kamiq we drove came with drive assist features like Collision Detection, Brake Assist and like every other Skoda, it had the highest rating for fuel efficiency.
VERDICT
With an emotive design, state-of-the-art assistance and infotainment systems, a generous amount of space and practical features, the new KAMIQ is a nimble urban car that appeals to all ages and is perfect for small families. We enjoyed the drive experience and particularly loved the fuel efficiency aspect. It is spacious, efficient, looks good and feels good.
