There’s a first time for everything — and for me, taking part in the OMODA & JAECOO Ten-Nation Hybrid Marathon in China was a milestone I will never forget. Representing home grown titles as both a motoring enthusiast and contributor for Global Trend Monitor and All About Wheels, I joined participants from ten different countries to experience a drive that tested not only machines but also endurance, emotion, and innovation.
Held in Wuhu, as part of the OMODA & JAECOO International User Summit 2025, the event spanned more than 600 km across South Anhui’s breathtaking landscapes, from urban roads to mountain passes, from misty lakes to the ancient charm of Hongcun village. The scenery was cinematic, a stunning backdrop to what became one of the most unforgettable drives of my life.
With OMODA 7 SHS-P, I immediately noticed the seamless transition between electric and hybrid power. The acceleration was smooth yet powerful, and even on winding mountain roads, the car felt grounded and composed. Over the two days, we drove through highways, city streets, and hilly terrain and the vehicle handled each segment with remarkable confidence and ease. With a combined range exceeding 1,100 km and fuel consumption as low as 4.8L/100 km, this hybrid clearly leads in both efficiency and endurance.
What truly amazed me was the quiet cabin experience. At highway speeds of 120 km/h, it felt as serene as a luxury EV, thanks to dual-layer soundproof glass and active noise cancellation. Driving through the misty bends of Mount Huangshan with nothing but soft music playing and the hum of the hybrid motor felt almost meditative, a rare blend of technology and tranquility.
In the SPORT mode, the response was immediate — a surge of energy, quick acceleration, and a thrilling sense of control. It was a perfect reminder of the brand’s philosophy: power when you want it, efficiency when you need it.
The closing ceremony back in Wuhu was filled with pride and excitement as data from all teams confirmed the remarkable efficiency of these hybrids. For me, though, it was more than a technical achievement. It was about being part of a global community that values sustainability, innovation, and the pure joy of driving. This is the future of mobility. Intelligent, efficient, and designed for drivers like us who believe that every journey should be both meaningful and memorable.
