The new Hyundai Santa Fe has been completely redesigned with changes to both the exterior and interior with the aim to offer superior driving experiences to customers in the GCC. Established as one of Hyundai’s iconic brands, the latest Santa Fe represents another step forward for design, performance and innovation.
Exterior
The new Santa Fe has a more dynamic silhouette. The bold exterior and the front section reflect differently fresh and more modern look compared to its predecessor models. The wide, eye-catching cascading grille has been improved, with its signature geometric patterned-inlay integrated with the headlights. The ‘T’-shaped Daytime Running Lights along with the sculpted front bumper offer a highly distinctive presence and completes the edgy and powerful appearance.
At the back, the rear bumper showcases a low and wide look that conveys stability. Its bold stance is reflected by the sweeping horizontal line, connecting the combination lights and tailgate garnish. The wrap-around combination lamps indicates a highly-distinctive high-tech design while the premium alloy wheel designs match Santa Fe’s classy and robust style.
Interior
The transformed Santa Fe creates an aura of luxury and is matched with advanced technology features to meet the complete needs of an entire family.
The dashboard feels wide and provides maximum visibility. The high-console is equipped with shift-by-wire transmission buttons, offering improved operational convenience.
The Santa Fe also comes with a spectrum of 64 ambient lighting colours, a smartphone wireless charging system and a wide array of technology features. We loved the premium sound system from Infinity™ which delivers spectacular sound.
The standard 8-inch display audio touchscreen unit provides hands-free convenience with Bluetooth connection as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The car also comes with a floating style 10.25 inch Audio, Video and Navigation (AVN) system, featuring powerful capabilities. The ample roomy interior space is complemented with refined and comfortable seats, increased legroom and plenty of space in the trunk.
Performance
The Santa Fe comes with a choice of four engines bringing incredible power and cleaner emissions. The Santa Fe is the first Hyundai model to be fitted with the next-generation powertrain ‘Smartstream D2.2’ engine which has a maximum output of 202 ps and a maximum torque of 45.0kgf.m.
The engines come with 6 or 8-speed transmissions offering maximum fuel efficiency and durability. The Santa Fe is also the first Hyundai SUV to come with the ‘Smartstream Wet 8DCT’, delivering quick eight-speed shifting and acceleration performance. Among the new key safety and convenience technology features are the Remote Smart Parking Assist and Lane Following Assist and the Terrain Driving Mode, allowing the driver to switch between different drive modes and drive safely on different surfaces.
Verdict
Fitted with the latest advanced technology systems, Santa Fe has gone from strength to strength with each generation showcasing the best of innovation, design and performance. We liked the HTRAC all-wheel drive system that automatically detects vehicle’s speed and road conditions and provides stability especially while we were driving and cornering around the many roundabouts in Sharjah.
